Innovative duo Brijean have returned with their fantastic new single, ‘Workin’ On It’. The band is comprised of singer-songwriter and percussionist Brijean Murphy, and multi-instrumentalist and producer Doug Stuart. They developed the track from a jam, combining bongo, conga and drum machine loops with a two-layer bass line that could’ve been plucked from a vintage disco tune. Murphy’s voice is sedate and casual, gently riffing on ideas of self-improvement over a danceable psych-pop bed. On the unique decision to have fans contribute voice messages to the soundscape, Brijean says: “That was a treat… Just getting to go through and hear all of these voices from around the world, an intimate and charming experience.” This track is the lead single from the pair’s upcoming album, Macro, which drops on July 12th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
